Rules of Spanish 21
The values assigned to the cards in the standard version of blackjack are the same as those used in Spanish 21. A hole card is dealt to the dealer, and he has to stand on 17 and hit on 16. Most casino rules require the dealer to hit a soft 16. The winning hand in the game is Blackjack and the payout for it is 3:2 – irrespective of the dealer’s hand. The payout for insurance is 2:1 in Spanish 21. Players have to split, stand or hit based on the rules followed in the traditional version of Blackjack.
Players can double down after they split whenever they want to. They can draw any number of cards they want post splitting. They are allowed to split any hand up to four times, and also surrender late. A hand can be conceded (forfeited or surrendered after doubling down) to bring in double the second bet amount.
