Gambling Addiction

Gambling addiction is not a lack of willpower and it is not a system you failed to learn. It is a pattern that keeps going after the money, the sleep, and the people around you have started to pay for it.

Signs it has stopped being a game

The money is someone else's
Rent, food, a loan, or money you told yourself you would not touch. If the stake is a bill, stop.
You hide it
A second account, a deleted history, or a story about where the money went. Secrecy is part of the pattern.
You chase
The next session is there to win back the last one. The amount goes up because the loss feels unfinished.
You cannot stop when you said you would
The limit was real until you crossed it. Then it moved. That is the point to get help, not the point to prove you can handle one more hour.

Who to call

Call 0800 800 099, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. This is Joc Responsabil. The call is free, and it is for players and for people close to them. A counsellor is on the site around the clock. Start at jocresponsabil.ro.

0800 800 099 is not a night line. A counsellor stays on jocresponsabil.ro around the clock. For a suicidal crisis, the Romanian Alliance for Suicide Prevention answers 0800 801 200 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 19:00 to 07:00. The call is free. You can also write to [email protected] at any hour. If someone is in immediate danger, call 112.

Barring yourself

The National Office for Gambling (ONJN) keeps a self-exclusion list. You can file it in person at an ONJN office with your identity document, and a filing made there is processed on the spot. You can also email [email protected] with a qualified electronic signature, or send a notarial declaration or a declaration attested by a lawyer to that address. A licensed operator can take the request and has to forward it within two working days.

The bar stays until you file a request to withdraw it. A bar on that list does not close an account at a casino that does not check it. Ask that casino to close the account as well. ONJN explains the steps at onjn.gov.ro.

Questions

Do I have to be sure before I call?

No. Call 0800 800 099 if gambling is costing you money, sleep, work, or a relationship. You do not need a diagnosis to ask for a conversation.

Can I call about someone else?

Yes. Joc Responsabil will talk to someone close to a player. You still cannot put them on the self-exclusion list. Only they can do that.

Can Black-jack.net close a casino account for me?

No. We do not run those casinos and we cannot reverse a deposit. Call 0800 800 099, and ask each casino you use to close the account.
